Missouri Speeding Ticket Laws

The best way to avoid expensive fines and days spent fighting tickets in court is to know Missouri Speeding Ticket Laws. When you are driving on rural interstates and freeways the speed limit is seventy miles per hour. The maximum speed allowed on rural expressways is 65 miles per hour. If you are operating a motor vehicle in a urbanized area on an interstate highway, freeways or expressways, the speed limit is sixty miles per hour. When you are traveling on unspecified roads and highways outside of urbanized areas, the speed limit is sixty miles per hour.
Missouri Speeding Ticket Laws require that you drive fifty miles per hour or less on any state two-lane road, unless another speed limit is posted. If you are driving on a state road or highway on which the speed limit is not set by a local ordinance, the highway and transportation commissioner, under Missouri Speeding Ticket Laws, has the power to lower or raise the speed limit. The Department of Public Safety can request that the transportation commissioner change a speed limit that is inappropiate for that roadway.
Missouri Speeding Ticket Laws state that all road signs indicating speed and vehicle weight limits be uniform in size, shape, lettering and coloring, and meet department of transportation standards. Any speed limit set below fifty-five miles per hour by any ordinance or any county, city, town or village that was set before March 13, 1996 may not be changed due to provisions in the Missouri driving staues. If you violate Missouri Speeding Ticket Laws, you will be committing a Class C misdemeanor, unless you are traveling at a rate of speed in excess of twenty miles per hour of the speed limit. In such case, under Missouri Speeding Ticket Laws, you will be committing a Class B misdemeanor. It is your responsibility to travel at a rate of speed that is reasonable and prudent according to existing conditions.
